A relative of mine has been in a back and forth with her grand-daughter in college, self-assured and rather smug, actually. She disagrees with her grandmother on matters cultural and political, citing her intelligence, her education, the academic insight of her professors and research that she trusts. Wow! Makes you want to bow down and admit your inferiority.
She is not educated. She is brainwashed. She scolds our country for ostracizing the muslims among us. If we tell people they are terrorists when they aren't they will become terrorists. Our religious intolerance is out of control and we could become like Hitler's Germany because we believe propaganda. The muslims are not out to rule America with Sharia Law. We need to know about the social theory of self-fulfilling prophecy. The extremist killer in Norway was a Christian terrorist.
And the beat goes on, and on, and on. I wrote to my relative and put in my two cents. Some may agree that the muslims are not out to put us all under Sharia Law. I would ask that you google what some of the influential fundmentalist muslims in this country have stated - publicly. Know the history of Islam and its tenets. Anyone can get a copy of the Koran. I have one. Read it.
If we are making terrorists of muslims and making them hate us, then why is there deliberate slaughter, actually genocide, of Christians in Africa and the Middle East. Those Christians are not white, prejudiced Americans. They are indigenous people, minding their own business and being persecuted for their Faith. It's dhimmitude, exile or death.
The "extremist" in Norway was not Christian. The young lady says she can back up her statements with academic insight and research she trusts. Whose insights? What research? Has she done some on her own? She would find that Breivik, in his 1500 word manifesto calls himself a Darwinian, has no personal faith, doubts the existence of God and does not pray. He only says that Europe's Christian culture and his own pagan Nordic culture should prevail over the multi-culturism covering Europe. He says he relies on science and logic. I wonder who educated him?
She could have found that out with a little digging. Her knowledge is superficial, reliant on liberal professors and biased media, both of which skew information or give out misinformation. Academic insight? No. The professors have an agenda, to turn out good little leftists, following the party spiel.
A good college education teaches young people HOW to think, not WHAT to think. She should question her sociology teacher, who is feeding her garbage. The persecution of the Jews by Hitler was not the same as our "ostracizing?" muslims, which, she says, can lead to the same type of persecution. The Jews were German citizens (or Polish, etc.), assimilated into German culture and all parts of society. Some strict Orthodox lived in ghettos.
The fundamentalist muslims, by the thousands in this country alone, choose to live in enclaves, will not assimilate into American culture, observing Sharia Law amongst themselves. Their madrasses teach the Koran as it's taught in Saudi Arabia, Wahabism, strict adherence to the Koran. We are not ostracizing them. Moderates rarely speak out. Why?
We do not have to make them hate us. They do hate us. Self-fulfilling prophecy has nothing to do with how muslims become terrorists. They have free will. They have a choice not to become terrorists. As the Japanese and Hitler youth were taught hatred and were used by power-mad leaders, so are those muslim children in their schools. Their action is in the name of religion. But Islam is not just a religion. It is a whole system of life, personal, political, spiritual, moral. Its numbers are billions and it seeks worldwide domination. They were turned back in the Middle Ages. They are trying again.
By the way, regarding self-fulfilling prophecy: The term was coined in 1948 by a sociologist named Robert Merton. He gave hypotheticals about how a false belief could lead to the belief coming true, i.e., a false belief that a bank is going to fail causes people to run on the bank, withdraw their money and the bank fails. The problem is, it is just a theory, like the theory of evolution. Like evolution, it has holes in it. There are other sociologists who say that you can't empirically demonstrate the existence and signs of self-fulfilling prophecy. Empirical evidence is scientific evidence. If we believe muslims are peaceful will that make them so? The young lady also needs a course in logic.
