With all the gun control hysteria (from the government) I thought I would post some quotes that I think are important to know, from people that some in the government today think are irrelevant. Tsk! Such arrogance and ignorance makes my hair curl.

Samuel Adams:  The said Constitution should be never construed...to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms.

Thomas Jefferson: And what country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms.

James Madison: The advantage of being armed is an advantage the Americans possess over people of almost every other nation...the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.

George Washington: A free people ought to be armed.

Noah Webster: Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed - as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword because the whole body of the people are armed.       (Nothing has changed since the 18th century)

Richard Henry Lee: A militia...are in fact the people themselves...and are for the most part employed at home in their private concerns.

George Mason: Who are the militia? They consist now of the whole people.

Every state had within its own constitution the affirmation of the individual right to bear arms. The men quoted above were all signers of the Declaration and/or the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. George Mason is called the Father of the Bill of Rights.  Even Tom Paine, a Quaker, defended the rights of the individual to bear arms.  David Barton's little paperback, "The Second Amendment," is the source of these quotes.
