O God, come to my assistance. O Lord, make haste to help me.
The prophesies of St. Malachy seem to be well known in both Catholic and non-Catholic circles among people who pay attention to such things. Malachy did seem to have the gift of prophesy, and his list of the Popes from Celestine II (1143) to "the final persecution of the Holy Roman Church" seem to have been fulfilled in his cryptic Latin descriptions. They could be true prophetic outcomes. On the other hand, if the Cardinals who elect the Popes, or the elect themselves pay attention to Malachy to the extent that they self-fulfill the prophesies, then the whole thing is suspect.
It would seem that Pope Francis is the last Pope if the end of the list is to be believed. Does this mean that if the prophesy is true that the end of the world is at hand? It may mean the end of an era, rather than the end of the world. We are faced with the destruction of nations and the death of millions if the human race continues on its self-destructive course. A great chastisement by God is not to be unexpected. I posted on my blog, August 12, 2013, my take on Petrus Romanus, by Tom Horn, and the Malachy prophesies.
Here I would rather talk about what Tom Horn is telling people about the Vatican Observatory, alien life and a star-child Jesus. Let me go into the extra-terrestrial idea before I get to his inferences. Look at it this way. If we put limits on what God can do, what He can create, then He isn't God. if we say that He can't possibly have created other thinking beings with souls on another planet then we do limit Him. Let's say there are such "people." Brother Guy Colomagno, a Jesuit astronomer, who is mentioned prominently by Tom Horn, said, tongue-in-cheek, I might add, in an interview I read, no matter how many tentacles they have, if they are beings with souls and minds, they would be endowed by God with free will. So, I add, if they have free will they could choose good or evil. They could be fallen as we are. If so, they would need salvation as we have. Might they have been saved? Who knows? We would have to know their history. Before anyone gets the idea that I'm an alien believer, I am simply open to the idea, and am positing what could be.
Now, suppose these "people" are superior and had not original sin to overcome. They would not be trying to convert us. Their life experience would be totally different. We have the Blessed Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Would they? We needed God's Word to become Man. We needed His Holy Spirit to enlighten us. Think of it this way. When Jesus Christ founded His Church and sent the apostles to preach, there was some conflict over whether new converts needed to be circumcised. I'm sure any Bible readers will remember that. The decision was, after discussion between Peter and Paul, that they did not. We also do not keep kosher, do we? The Law of Moses was meant for the Israelites specifically. Their laws were their Covenant with God. They did not apply to the New Covenant which the gentiles (Christians) have with God. The Old Covenant was fulfilled in the Person of Jesus. Any "alien" life's religion would not apply to our experience and our beliefs. Brother Guy joked that the Jehovah's Witnesses would probably try to convert them. This is all pure conjecture; but it is all an interesting thought, that God would want to share His Life with more than our planet's inhabitants.
The Jesuits as a whole have strayed so far from what St. Ignatius of Loyola wanted them to be, "God's army," since his background was as a military man. The Jesuits have always been highly educated and some have been wonderful scientists. It's their spiritual life that has gone to the dogs. More than a few scientific truths were discovered by priests and monks, as I noted in the post of May 16, 2014.
In the 16th century, Pope Gregory XIII used astronomy to correct the Julian calendar. In 1789 the Vatican opened an observatory and eventually, in the 1930s, moved it to Castel Gandolfo, the Pope's summer residence. It has been used to study our universe for a long time. The library there has over 22,000 documents, many ancient, on astronomy, including Newton, Kepler, Brahe, etc. The universe was created by God. Why would the Church not want to learn more about it? the bright lights of Rome kept making it harder to see the skies, hence, the opening of the Vatican Observatory in Arizona. This created problems.
Environmentalists and some Native Americans objected to the use of Mt. Graham. However, the University of Arizona already had its own Observatory there. The Vatican Advanced Technology Telescope (VATT) operated by Jesuits and others study gravitational tides, comets, meteororites, etc.. They are studying as well, the difference between creation from nothing and creation continuing, "the fact that at every instant, the continued existence of the universe itself is deliberately willed by God, Who in this way is continually causing the universe to remain created."(Quote taken from an article "Vatican's Celestial Eye, Seeking Not Angels but Data" in the NY Times). That is true, If God removed His Hand from us, we are done. We exist at His Will.
The Vatican Telescope is not, I repeat not, the Large Binocular Telescope, also on Mt. Graham and nicknamed L.U.C.I.F.E.R. More about that shortly. It is the third telescope on Mt. Graham.
The Vatican Observatory Research Group (VORG) is headquartered at the Castel Gandolfo Observatory; but the research is conducted from a small suite of offices at the University of Arizona's Steward Observvatory. The University's Mirror Lab makes the most powerful telescope mirrors. The Director of VORG is a Jesuit, Fr. Coyne, who, in the 1960s was part of a team studying the surface of the moon, to help NASA's preparatory work for Apollo missions. He later shifted his research to the formation of stars, and other topics of astrobiology. Since planets are the first requirement for any form of life, people are interested in whether there is such life. The telescope on Mt.Graham is the best two-meter imaging scope, perfect for near-field astronomy. It paved the way for the Large Binocular Telescope. Fr. Coyne, asked if he believes in extra-terrestrial life, says that "each star is fired with a propensity for life, but there is no reason to think any of them have achieved this." The statements by the people Tom Horn quotes are personal opinions and speculations of scientists always looking for something, somewhere. The Vatican is not looking for aliens, demons or angels specifically. The Research Group is looking for whatever is out there, near and far, life or no life. Whatever God has created is of interest.
By the way, with all the UFO sightings over the decades, I would offer this. Angels and Demons (fallen angels) are pure spirit. I can't see the need for either to have material machines to get them to earth, since they've been here and manifested themselves from times of the Old Testament onward, even in our own times, in the form of human beings.
One of the goals of the Large Binocular Telescope is the search for other life. The Vatican has nothing to do with it, contrary to what Tom Horn says. Scientists at five German universities designed it and came up with the name, L.U.C.I.F.E.R, according to Daniel Stolte of the University of Arizona. They tossed around names for an acronym that would fit all the technical terms. The whole description of the telescope is "Large Binocular Telescope Near-Infrared Utility with Camera and Integral Field Unit for Extragalactic Research." They thought it clever to use those initials, since the telescope would be next to the Vatican one, and because it could be translated as "bright morning." This telescope is under a consortium of German and Italian science organizations and some of our U.S. universities. Consortium member list is found easily online. Where Tom Horn got the idea that his was a Vatican thing and the Vatican named it is beyond me. It's more misinformation like that in Petrus Romanus.
Yes,, a group of astronomers and theologians met in 2009 to discuss what might be the impact of "aliens" on our earth. Should we be ready, just in case? Should we be thinking about different scenarios? Malachi Martin did confirm this on Art Bell, that 's true. So? The Catholic faithful are not going to be baptized into any alien faith. I already covered that in an earlier paragraph. Our Gospel is OUR history, not theirs. anything discussed now is speculation anyway. Who is assuming that if these "people" exist, they are superior in morality and understand God better? And if they are superior, we can learn from them, as we have taught indigenous people around the world by education and religious conversion. But that is on OUR earth, with OUR humans. We might learn to be better people. That doesn't mean we would embrace their idea of religion, whatever that might be. Remember the citation about the Law of Moses and the New Testament Covenant.
There will be no alien Savior, no "star-child" Jesus. At some point, soon, I think, there will be the Anti-Christ. It is more likely he will be muslim than Christian. Putting that aside, this Pope is suspect to a lot of traditional, orthodox Catholics. He indeed, may be the last Pope, and may also try to lead the faithful astray. He may be a "deceiver and destroyer." The jury is still out. the two Popes who were recently recognized as holy, are not universally held in such high esteem. Nevertheless, they may have been good "personally" and are in heaven. Our Lord will take care of whatever mistakes are made.
We are in the end times, I am sure. That doesn't mean that the end of the world is just around the corner. God gave Satan a certain length of time. He "loosed" him and he is reaping souls by the millions. Our world is a mass of decadence, sin - blasphemy, obscenity, impurity, religious and political crimes. We are under chastisement right now and it will get worse. Our Lady of Fatima, and I know my non-Catholic family and friends scoff at this, was sent by her Son, Our Lord (as He has in times past) to warn us of the chastisement, not the Apocalyptic end of the world - not just yet. Almighty God has given mankind the chance to repent and feel His mercy time and time again throughout history. He has promised a period of peace if we pray and do penance, change our ways, and consecrate Russia - specifically Russia to His mother. It is her heel which will crush the serpent, having given birth to Our Lord and Savior, Whose power it is that will prevail. "I will put enmity between you and the Woman; between your seed and her seed." It will be done, but it will be done late, as Mary told Sister Lucia. We will suffer much until then. Our Lord Himself warned France 100 years before the French Revolution through His appearance to a little nun. The Kings of France delayed His requests and the result was what we know. Will a Pope be killed? Possibly. Did Benedict XVI resign under duress? Possibly. We may have so much to suffer - whole nations destroyed - maybe our own - the dead all around us - only a remnant of the human race remaining. I'm willing to think that will be the worst of our tribulation. It will take strength of soul and body to survive and begin again to wait for the final coming, if we aren't among the dead. Forget the Rapture. That was thought up by a misreading of the Bible in the 1800s. We're all in this together.
Malachi Martin also said something interesting that falls in line with what Sister Lucia was told. (She was one of the three children who experienced the Fatima apparitions in 1917). He said to "watch the skies" for the sign Our Lord will send. It could be nuclear war, a comet, EMP, etc., but it also could be something supernatural that the whole world will see and understand. It seems that the anti-Christ will have his way first; and I hope we are all prepared for the horrors that will bring. Our country is falling into the trap. George Orwell's 1984 is upon us - a bit late; but that and Animal Farm were certainly prophetic.
Just a sub-note: Our Lady has been sent by Jesus Christ many times throughout history to warn or to help us. There is plenty of documentation if one is interested in finding it. Christ is our mediator. Yes. Christ is the center of our belief and salvation. Yes. Christ is my personal savior. Yes. We honor His mother because He does. That has been true since the earliest days of the Church.The Popes know what they should do, and have in their possession the papers written by Sister Lucia. They have been cowards and in years past made a pact with Russia. That pact will be broken. It is getting very late. 2017 will be 100 years since Fatima, Portugal, and I can't help but remember France. It is interesting that Fatima is a muslim name, isn't it?
The Anti-Christ will be given a few years to reign and subjugate us. We have more than one precursor paving the way - religious and/or political? All we can do is pray and watch for the false christs who will seem to be the answer to our travails. Are we ready to be micro-chipped? The Church and the Vatican have nothing to do with that, either.
