NEA

In 1998 a book was published by Liberty Bell Press, Flourissant, Missouri.  The title is None Dare Call It Education, by John Stormer.  John Stormer , a researcher, writer, school superintendent and pastor, has written other important books, one of which is None Dare Call It Treason, about communism.

I would like to offer quotes from the first-mentioned book, in the words of "educators" themselves, and from official NEA documents and sessions.

Dr. Willard Givens, CA school superintendent in 1934 (my emphasis), at the NEA's 72nd annual convention: "We are convinced that we stand today at the verge of a great culture...But to achieve these things many drastic changes must be made. A dying laissez-faire must be completely destroyed, and all of us, including the owners, must be subjected to a large degree of social control." He was calling for the destruction of free enterprise and individual freedom.

"The NEA will become a political power second to no other special interest group."  NEA Executive Secretary Sam Lambert, 1967.

A resolution of the NEA at the 1995 convention:  "The National Education Association recognizes the importance of raising the awareness and increasing the sensitivity of staff, students, parents, and the community to sexual orientation. The Association therefore supports...the celebration of a Lesbian and Gay History Month as a means of acknowledging the contributions of lesbians, gay, and bi-sexuals throughout history."  The Washington Blade, a homosexual weekly rejoiced that the delegates passed the resolution 2 to 1.

Since the early 1990s teacher delegates have approved "reproductive-rights"  (right to choose abortion), and in 1997 defeated pro-life teachers' efforts to prohibit NEA funds for pro-abortion lobbying.

Resolution E-9 passes annually. It demands a total academic freedom for teachers and students to "explore and discuss divergent points of view," but adds: "The Association further believes that legislation and regulations that mandate or permit the teaching of religious doctrines and/or groups that promote anti-public education agenda violate student and teacher rights. The Association urges its affiliates to seek repeal of these mandates where they exist."

The NEA blocks efforts to assure teacher competency. 1994 Resolution D-19: "The National Education Association believes that competency testing must not be used as a condition of employment, license retention, evaluation, placement, ranking, or promotion of licensed teachers."  Even where incompetency, in large numbers in Massachusetts (1998) was proved, the NEA refused basic literacy and subject matter testing.

Health care without parental notification, and indeed, controlling children from birth on is a goal. In 1997 Resolution C-23: "The National Education Association believes that every child should have direct and confidential access to comprehensive health, social and psychological programs and services. The Association believes that programs in schools should provide...comprehensive school-based, community-funded student health care clinics that provide basic health care services (which may include diagnosis and treament). If deemed appropriate 'by local choice' the clinics would provide family-planning counseling and access to birth control methods with instruction in their use. (Emphasis added by the author).

As long ago as January, 1969, in the NEA journal: "...educators will assume a formal responsibility for children when they reach the age of two...we will offer such services as medical-dental examinations, early identification of the handicapped and deprived, attacks on nutritional needs, and - of major importance - early referral to cooperating social agencies for treatment of psychobehavioral problems.  ..........

"The basic role of the teacher will change noticeably. Ten years hence it should be more accurate to term him a 'learning clinician.' This title is meant to convey the idea that schools are becoming 'clinics' whose purpose is to provide individualized psychosocial 'treatment' for the student, thus increasing his value both to himself and society." (Emphasis by the author).

The treatments: "New drama will play on the educational stage as drugs are introduced experimentally to improve in the learner such qualities as personality, concentration and memory (Ritalin, etc.). The application of bio-chemical research findings, heretofore centered in infra-human subjects, such as fish, could be a source of conspicuous controversy when children become the objects of experimentation."

What if parents resist?  "...there could be a tinderbox quality to the introduction of mandatory foster homes and 'boarding schools' for children between the ages of two and three whose home environment was felt to have a malignant influence." (Emphasis by author).  What influences? Religious beliefs perhaps?

Chester Pierce, psychiatry professor, Harvard, at the Childhood International Seminar in 1973, Denver:
"Every child in America entering school at the age of 5 is mentally ill because he comes to school with certain allegiances to our founding fathers, toward our elected officials, toward his parents, toward a belief in a supernatural being, and toward the sovereignty of this nation as a separate entity. It's up to you as teachers to make all these sick children well - by creating the international child of the future." 

Do you see yet what has been happening incrementally to our schools?  Do you see that of late there is an acceleration of the power of school over parent and home?  Did you hear the inane prattle of college students in the Occupy Wall Street chaos?

In 1986 and 1987 the Communist Party U.S.A. praised the NEA. Its journal, Daily World said: "The National Education Association, established originally as a professional association to promote public education, lobby for funds and advance high standards, has become over the years a bona fide, progressive union...The union's progressive and united actions indicate that the 1987 convention will continue to provide leadership for its membership and set an example for the labor movement as a whole."  May I remind the reader of the chaos in Wisconsin and the demanded recall of the Governor - by teachers having to bite the bullet like the rest of us, because of the State's financial condition?

The Communist  Daily World bragged about their growing influence in the NEA." Nowhere in the basic documents of the NEA, in their resolutions or new business items, are there any anti-Soviet or anti-socialist positions. This is susceptible to change, of course, if progressive forces are not vigilant."

While the current Administration in Washington bellows about "special interest groups" and those nasty "lobbyists," one of the most powerful is the NEA, supporting the "progressive" (read socialist) agendas of the Democrat Party.

To flesh out the quote from Lambert in 1967: "NEA will become a political power second to no other special interest group...NEA will organize this profession from top to bottom into logical operational units that can move swiftly and effectively with power unmatched by any other organized group in the nation."

The NEA virtually controls teacher certification. At the 1988 convention then president, Mary H. Futreel boasted : "Today, for the first time in the history of the United States, there is a fully operational National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. And not just any board, but a Board governed by a working majority of classroom teachers! The new Board - which includes 18 NEA members - has already met several times. By 1991 the Board will draft national standards, design assessment instruments, and develop voluntary certification procedures."  Voluntary? for how long? Certification standards?

The NEA seeks to oversee all certification. While it speaks of public schools, private and parochial schools would be affected. A bill in Missouri stated: "Any person who performs duties as a professor educator in the schools of this state without a valid license as required pursuant to the provisions of sections .....shall be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor."   So, homeschool parents, and teachers in private and parochial schools, not certified by the NEA approved Board would face fines of up to $1000 and a year in jail. The bill didn't pass. But this is another example of the goal of the NEA.

NEA fights anyone opposed to its agenda. In 1951 parents in Pasadena, CA spoke out against indoctrination of their children. the NEA report said: "They apparently claim that this country has already moved into, or is rapidly moving toward, some form of socialism, collectivism, or statism......They charge that John Dewey's progressive education is an instrument designed to break down American standards and weaken the fabric of American society...."  Remember Willard Givens' quote from 1934 - away with free enterprise and the free market system.

The NEA retains a "blacklist" of organizations questioning or criticizing public education.  Surveys were given out in New York  by the Upstate New York Coalition for Democracy (the NY NEA, NY State United Teachers, AFL-CIO, People for the American Way (liberal group), Planned Parenthood. According to the "Wall Street Journal," although the survey dealt with (supposedly) "...groups like the KKK and neo-Nazis...there are no questions about swastikas, cross burnings, racial incidents, hate crimes or weapons stashes." The survey identified members of the Radical Right  "...individuals, groups, churches, or 'faith-based organizations' who spoke about 'the moral decline of America' and 'the need to return to family values;' involved themselves in school-board races or public budget debates; attempted to reduce public funding of the arts; spoke about such issues as 'back to basics,' 'phonics only,' 'parental rights,' or 'abstinence only sex education.'"  They have on their blacklist just about every pro-God, pro-America politician, pastor, conservative economist, all considered dangerous.  The NEA in 1994 joined a coalition for gay and lesbian rights. Their manual is How to Win: A Practical Guide for Defeating the Radical Right in Your Community. It attacks any evangelical or Biblically -based group.

There is so much more.  Try to censor movies shown to your children (without your knowledge usually) with sexually explicit themes, nudity, foul language.  The school will plead academic freedom, freedom of expression, artistic value, ad nauseam. 

Our public education system is a tool for power over our children's minds, the destruction of the family core and ultimately a country we will not recognize.  It's almost there. What Stormer wrote in 1998 is more than ever valid.

Let's go back to 1954. A special congressional committee investigating tax-exempt foundations in education said (I took this from the book jacket): "theoretically a society could be completely made over in something like 15 years, the time it takes to inculcate a new culture into a rising crop of youngsters."
